Waldenburg is a highly sophisticated, carefully drawn sans-serif typeface designed to be adaptable for both analogue and digital uses while maintaining a warm, print-like character. It features a strong humanist and organic feel, with strong vertical contrast and subtle squarishness, derived from a geometrical and mathematically precise construction. The typeface boasts a super high x-height, ensuring high legibility and compatibility across all cuts, and allows for tight line spacing. Waldenburg blends distinctive character with formal neutrality, making it suitable for a wide range of design applications.

The typeface was inspired by the hybridization of rural landscapes and technological innovation in the region where designer Michael Clasen grew up. Its development began in late 2019, resulting in a superfamily consisting of 24 cuts varying in weight and width. The corresponding italic cuts were designed by graphic and type designer Marcel Saidov and were introduced in early 2022.
