The independent type design studio based in Bern, Switzerland, was founded in 2013 by Luzi Gantenbein. Raised in the Swiss Alps, Luzi studied Visual Communication at the University of the Arts Bern. He started his career as a graphic designer in London, Santiago de Chile, and Zürich.

Since 2013, Luzi has operated his studio. He moved from Montevideo to Valparaíso before settling in Bern’s Old Town in 2019. Over the years, the studio has created a collection of original typefaces.

The work is motivated by curiosity and admiration for the history of typography. It explores references and revisits traditions with a contemporary perspective.

The studio emphasizes simplicity to achieve clarity, demonstrating how typography influences meaning. Conscious of technology’s capabilities and limitations, it refines designs to produce type that respects heritage while addressing needs.
