Documan is a semi-rounded typeface with a typewriter aesthetic, although it is not a monospace. Circular forms are punched into vertical stems, the terminals are diagonal and rounded. It was originally designed as a bespoke typeface as part of a proposal for the visual identity of the Charta 77 Foundation and a number of their projects. One of the distinctive elements is the unexpected serifs in several glyphs, such as 'D, E or P'. The typeface also includes many alternatives, such as an 'r' or 'y' with a decorative dot. In addition to the Documan family itself, the typeface collection now consists of Documan STC (Stencil), available for free, and Documan CNT (Construct), whose decorative rather than practical design is missing parts even where they are not needed for stencil production.
