Fenul's design is inspired by an anatomy book, specifically the chapter on bones. The characteristic thinner centres and heavier ends of bones can be easily spotted in the letterforms. This serif typeface follows the same construction principles and also incorporates striking variations in weight and width. Upright and Italic styles are included in one variable font, which allows the use of slanted italics that closely match the upright fonts. True italics can be activated by utilising Stylistic Sets, introducing a degree of sophistication to the design. The typeface can be further enhanced with several alternates, or a wide selection of ligatures and discretionary ligatures.
