Tobias is a serif typeface with a baroque and transitional appearance. Its weight stress is diagonal, as in Old-Style and Renaissance typefaces. The x-height is higher than usual and connections on stems are not smooth, as arches are punched into the stems. It stands next to its sibling typefaces Teodor and Reckless. As Tobias originates from Baroque roots, its terminals are made up from drops and ears. The typeface includes numerous alternates that play with different directions of serifs. In Tobias one can find certain similarities with Times and Times New Roman (1904, William Starling Burgess; 1931–1974, Stanley Morison and Victor Lardent), Baskerville (1923, John Baskerville) and Goudy (1908, Frederic W. Goudy).
