Blitz Script offers a sleek, modern reinterpretation of American monoline script typefaces, steering clear of kitsch. Its conceptual roots lie in Roger Excoffon’s brilliant typeface ‘Mistral,’ which serves as a guiding influence. It is one of the few connected script typefaces where capital letters do not connect with lowercase letters, yet it maintains a sense of coherence and fluidity. This feature allows for aesthetically pleasing all-caps text settings. Obviously, the design reveals its power in display sizes. But with small text sizes in mind, Blitz Script is designed and optimised for sizes down to 6pt. The Layout Feature “Contextual Alternates” provides smooth connections between otherwise non-connecting glyphs where necessary. For a nicer rhythm and better legibility, certain small letter combinations are purposely designed as non-connecting pairs.
