Copy is a systematic type family, tightly designed for text setting, whereas every font meets the same spacing. The design system allows the replacement of any font within the font family, thoroughly keeping the dimensions of the text — perfect for interface design, allowing text to change style on hover. By following the concept of sametracking, the drawing of the thin cut tends towards wide, whereas the fat cut tends towards condensed. The roundness of the outer line increases from thin to fat cut. The design itself pays tribute to strongly constructed typefaces like DIN Mittelschrift, designed by engineers referring to the German Industrial Standard. Originally released in 2012, the family was completed by adding italics to all weights from Hair to Bold in 2017. Compact type setting is supported by Stylistic Set No. 2, which provides the replacement of accented glyphs by its CAP height-matching counterpart. In 2017, a customized version of Copy was selected as the exclusive typeface for the new visual identity of the Science and Media Museum in Bradford, designed by North, London.
